State awards $900,000 to expand Daytona Beach Shores public works facility

Senator Tom Wright visited the Daytona Beach Shores City Commission on Sept. 8 to present a $900,000 state appropriation for expansion of the city’s Public Works facility.
"This project will add over 5,000 square feet to the city's existing facility, including new vehicle equipment bays, a workshop bay, additional offices, and an attached storage area," Sen. Wright said, describing equipment and space that will help the city maintain stormwater and sewer systems year-round.
Mayor Miller said the appropriation came after close work with the city’s legislative delegation and characterized the award as a milestone for the city. Staff and elected officials noted the funding will support storage and maintenance capacity, including housing specialized equipment such as a vacuum-excavation vehicle.
The presentation included a ceremonial check and a brief discussion of next steps for contracting and coordination with state grant programs. Officials said additional state and grant funding streams remain available for future sewer and water projects.
