Columbia County honors Fleet and Procurement teams for certifications and national procurement award

At its Oct. 28 Public Works committee meeting Columbia County recognized Fleet Services for achieving ASE certification/Blue Seal requirements and celebrated the procurement department’s Achievement of Excellence award for the third or fourth consecutive year.
Columbia County’s Public Works and Engineering Services Committee on Oct. 28 recognized two county departments for professional achievements.
Leanne Reese, a county staff presenter, introduced Fleet Services staff and said the department met ASE certification requirements that underpin the Blue Seal of Excellence. "This is a wonderful accomplishment," Reese said, describing the requirement that 75% of technicians be certified in at least one area and that each shop area include an ASE-certified technician. Reese noted some technicians hold master certifications in multiple areas.
The committee also recognized the procurement department after it received the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement award for the third or fourth consecutive year. Glenn, a procurement representative, summarized the award’s evaluation criteria — productivity, professionalism and leadership — and said hundreds of agencies across the U.S. and Canada participate in the program.
Chair (speaker 1) and commissioners thanked staff for the effort and time required to prepare documentation and meet the award standards. The recognitions were announced at the start of the meeting and were not tied to a formal vote; staff and commissioners applauded the achievements.
