Commissioners report progress on community center and limited transit service with Monroe County

Commissioners and township representatives updated the board on progress toward opening a community center and a limited transit partnership.
Commissioner remarks noted that Pushkill Outreach has started moving into its portion of the building and that much of the funding for the center is from USDA programs. A final walkthrough by a USDA representative is pending because the agency contact is currently on furlough, delaying an exact kickoff date.
Commissioners described a limited bus run in partnership with Monroe County Transit Authority that will stop near the Lehman Township ambulance company and pick up riders at the community center parking lot, then run into Monroe County with transfer options at an Eagle Valley shopping-area hub. Officials said the routing is intended to serve seniors, young workers and others needing transportation and that they will promote service aggressively once the center officially opens and the transit schedule is finalized.
County and township speakers thanked staff and partners for funding and development work and said they will provide more details at a future grand opening announcement.
