Pike County commissioners approve $399,900 in payments, several hires and contracts

At their Oct. 15 meeting the Pike County Board of Commissioners approved $399,927.54 in general-fund payments, $88,676.02 from the employee health insurance fund, multiple hires and salary settings, and authorized several vendor agreements and grant certifications.
The Pike County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 15 approved routine county business including vendor payments, personnel hires and contract authorizations.
Commissioners voted to pay $399,927.54 from the general fund and $88,676.02 from the employee health insurance fund. The retirement board portion of the meeting approved a $10,000.20 invoice to Korn Ferry for an OPD evaluation professional fee.
Personnel actions approved included hiring Michael Rick as a part-time driver in the transportation department (less than 1,000 hours annually), effective retroactively Oct. 9, 2025; acknowledging Sheriff Beeney’s hire of Matthew Decker as a full-time deputy sheriff effective Nov. 3, 2025; and hiring Jason Pollitz as a full-time resource conservationist in the Conservation District effective Oct. 20, 2025. The salary board set Michael Rick’s hourly rate at $15, Decker’s hourly rate at $24.40 (40-hour week) and Pollitz’s annual salary at $51,000, with benefits following 90 days where applicable.
On capital and procurement matters, the board authorized the vice chairman to execute a $16,643 payment application to North Bend Electric for interior renovations at Bennett Avenue Building 1; it approved advertising three sheriff’s-office surplus items for sale (appearing to be safes) and authorized sealed bids for a 2026 tax anticipation note. The board also authorized advertising bids for fresh bread and baked goods for the county corrections facility for the 2026 contract year.
Other approvals included a service agreement between KidsPeace National Centers Inc. and Pike County on behalf of Children and Youth Services; a subscription license agreement between MatrixPoint Software LLC and the Pike County District Attorney’s Office; and the fifth amendment to an equipment maintenance agreement with 2 Way Mobile Communications Inc. The board executed the county human services non-block grant report certification and approved a human services fair payment voucher for $3,988.78.
All routine motions were seconded and approved by voice vote. The board tabled approval of the Oct. 1 meeting minutes after one commissioner said they were not present and no second was obtained. The meeting proceeded with no public comments on the agenda.
