Bullhead City paused its regular meeting on Nov. 4 to honor local service members in a Tri‑State Military Banner retirement ceremony.
Jana Gagnon, representing the Tri State Military Moms, introduced the organization’s banner program and said Bullhead City was the first Arizona city to display military recognition banners on a state highway at no cost to service members or families. Gagnon led presentations honoring service members and noted the organization will retire 11 banners and add nine new nominees along Highway 95.
The council and Tri State Military Moms presented certificates and banners for four discharged service members: Jesus Lazoya (U.S. Air Force), Brooklyn McCorkle Madera (U.S. Air Force), Stephen Nye (U.S. Marines) and Craig Oliver (U.S. Air Force). Each honoree’s family member or representative accepted the certificate; presenters highlighted deployments, roles and awards for each service member. Mayor Rodney Head read proclamations welcoming the service members home and thanked them for their service to the Tri‑State community.
Gagnon described the banner program’s volunteers, funding sources and maintenance needs, and the group thanked Mohave High School JROTC cadets for presenting the colors. After the presentations the council recessed for photos and a small reception; the program organizers said donated funds and volunteer labor keep the program operating.
