The board approved claims of $279,773.55 plus a $9,241.22 wire transfer, for a total of $289,014.77. A motion to approve the claims was seconded and carried; the clerk recorded Supervisors Shane McCampbell, Tom Broker, and Jim Carey voting yes.
During its second reading of an amendment to zoning ordinance No. 34 (2025 O-56), the board voted to rezone about six acres off Tamar Road, just outside Burlington city limits, from agricultural to industrial to formalize an existing storage-yard use for construction equipment. Planner staff said the zoning commission had recommended approval. The board moved to approve the amendment and waive a third hearing; roll-call votes for approval were recorded as yes from Tom Broker, Shane McCampbell and Jim Carey.
Supervisors also approved Resolution 2025-2056 appointing Charlie E. Walsh and Mary Baird to the Southeast Iowa Airport Zoning Commission and the Airport Board of Adjustments, with terms and expiration dates read into the record. The motion to approve the appointments passed by recorded vote.
The board accepted the annual report from County Weed Commissioner Jeff Chase and approved his weed-commissioner certificate and contract (address: 13522 Washington Road, West Burlington). A personnel item in the auditor’s office — a six-month step increase for payroll deputy Elaine Lutenegger to a new annual salary of $56,101.02 (previously $51,576.74) — was also approved.
Chair called routine items and minutes approved; there were no contested appeals on the items voted. The board did not take action on the sale of county-owned property discussed later in the meeting; that matter was left for staff to develop next steps.
