Somers Point City Council accepted the city's stormwater report during its Sept. 24 meeting. Administrator Jason Frost (presenting the report) said the city inspects 43 outfalls annually for illicit connections and in 2024 completed inspections with no evidence of illicit connections found.
The report described 2024 operations: the city swept approximately 80 miles of streets and collected roughly 20 tons of debris (about 500 pounds per mile), replaced 84 storm-drain grates with better-designed models and converted roughly 75% (487) of the city's storm-drain grates to new designs since 2004. Frost also summarized the city's pollution-prevention ordinances and standard operating procedures for fueling, vehicle maintenance, drainage and road-salt storage.
Council accepted the report as presented and thanked staff for ongoing stormwater management work.
