Board adopts Amplify CKLA for grades 5–6 and approves clearer elementary grade cards; virtual program enrolls 34

The Tri‑Creek Board approved the recommended ELA curriculum for grades 5 and 6 and heard broader curriculum and grading updates from Tammy, Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
Tammy said teachers and stakeholders reviewed materials and recommended Amplify CKLA for grades 5–6; she asked for board approval to move forward. On report cards, Tammy explained the district will move away from a MasteryConnect visual presentation for parents and return to more familiar percentage‑based categories, with clearer language such as "meeting expectations," "approaching expectations" and "needs support." She emphasized a focus on common formative and summative assessments to improve equity across elementary buildings.
Tammy also reported enrollment in the first month of the district’s Red Devil Pride Academy, the new K–12 virtual option, at 34 students so far — 13 new to the district and 21 switching from in‑district enrollment. The program will allow some hybrid arrangements for students participating in athletics or trade classes.
The board approved the ELA adoption during action items. Staff said they would continue stakeholder engagement for any future K–4 adoptions.
