The Tri‑Creek School Corporation Board of School Trustees approved a package of routine and policy actions at its meeting, including a bond refunding resolution, the adoption of new curriculum for grades 5 and 6 and updates to the student‑parent handbook.
The board voted to approve Resolution 2025‑07 authorizing the refunding of the series 2016 bonds aimed at refinancing debt at a lower interest rate. Dana, Director of Business Operations, told the board the refunding could reduce interest costs by roughly $900,000 over the remaining term after expenses. Thomas, legal counsel, said the district is allowed to refinance beginning 90 days before the old bonds can be paid off, explaining the timing for a September sale and October closing.
On curriculum, the board approved the recommended ELA textbook adoption for grades 5 and 6 (Amplify CKLA), which Tammy, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, said was selected after teacher and stakeholder review and aligned with Indiana standards.
The board also approved updates to the student‑parent handbook, which include removing high‑school parking permits and tightening attendance procedures (see separate coverage). The business office presented and the board approved temporary transfers to avoid showing negative fund balances at fiscal year end; Dana described these as largely timing transfers for reimbursable grants and routine bookkeeping adjustments.
Other approved items included the 2025–26 salary schedule for support and certified staff (no increases), authorization for a cross‑country overnight athletic trip, and consent items (minutes, payroll and personnel reports and small donations).
The board chair announced the motions passed by voice vote; no roll‑call tallies were recorded in the meeting transcript. The board set its next regular meeting for Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025.
