At its Nov. 11 meeting the School Board of Charlotte County approved a series of action items ranging from student health screenings to personnel actions.
The board approved an agreement with Who We Play For Inc. to provide heart screenings for district students after the superintendent recommended the contract. The motion to approve was made and seconded and carried by voice vote.
Board members approved an interlocal agreement with the Charlotte County Board of County Commissioners to provide commercial driver license (CDL) training and state testing for district employees. The board also approved the district’s quarterly school safety inspection report; school safety specialist Joe King told the board the inspections showed no compliance issues and that an official reinspection report would be available Jan. 7.
District operations and Lemon Bay High School requested a dedication of the school’s athletic training room as "Charlie’s Athletic Training Room" in honor of Charlie Russo. Board member Bob Seager offered a tribute to Russo; the board approved the naming.
The board adopted the 2026–27 regular and year‑round school calendars and approved a personnel action package, including a job description. Each item was approved by voice vote.
Several routine consent agenda items (11 total) were also approved earlier in the meeting.
