Dr. James elected chair; Lori Conrad chosen vice chair of Marion County School Board

The Marion County School Board elected Dr. James as chair for 2026 and selected Lori Conrad as vice chair during its Nov. 11, 2025 special organizational meeting.
Nominations opened for chair. A board member nominated Nancy Thrower, who said, "I respectfully decline," and indicated she will remain on the board for one final year and support the new chair. Following that decline, a nomination for Dr. James was made; Dr. James accepted the nomination and, with no further nominations, the board approved his election by voice vote.
For vice chair, a board member nominated Lori Conrad. Conrad accepted the nomination and, after a second by Reverend Cummings, the board recorded her election by voice vote (recorded as 5-0).
