Fremont Re-1 approves four new CCHS courses, including UAS/drone and advanced Python

At its Nov. 10 meeting the Fremont Re-1 Board of Education approved multiple new course offerings for Canyon City High School (CCHS).
The board voted to add an "Education and Technology" course; to approve a concurrent Criminology course with the local community college (CCC); and to adopt an aviation/UAS and drone-technology sequence (parts A and B). Members also approved a new online advanced Python course.
Board members commented on staffing and local connections to the courses: one member noted the new advanced Python instructor is a graduate of the local School of Mines program and former CCHS student and band member. All course approvals passed on roll-call votes.
The additions expand CCHS's vocational and STEM offerings and aim to provide concurrent‑enrollment options and career pathways for students.
