"You are not approving the trip. You are only approving for the teacher to advertise this trip to our students," Dr. Hauck said, explaining background checks and parental permission would be handled by the outside provider.
Board members asked administration to clarify whether district policy governs outside organizations’ ability to advertise in schools and whether the district maintains an open forum (which could require allowing any group) or a closed forum with restrictions. Mr. Pratt and other staff said they would research policy and return with guidance before the Nov. 18 vote. No vote was taken on Nov. 11.
