The Dover Area School District board opened its Nov. 11 meeting by marking Veterans Day and thanking service members before recognizing fall student‑athletes who advanced to postseason competition.
Dr. Weasling, the district’s director of athletics, introduced coach Chuck Jordan, who summed up the golf team's season: “We finished with 24 wins and 6 losses,” Jordan said, and noted two players, Lawson Leeper and Patrick Knob, advanced to the state tournament — a first for Jordan to have two state qualifiers in one season. Jordan also thanked trainers and staff who supported the program.
Coach Jen Miller highlighted cross‑country achievements: senior Kira Ryder qualified for the state meet in Hershey after medaling at district events, and teammates Matthew McKinney, Xander Myers and Nathan Mung advanced to district competition. Miller said Ryder will run at Millersville next year.
Dr. Weasling and board members also noted multiple sports received league sportsmanship and all‑star recognitions, and they encouraged the community to attend upcoming events, including the district fall awards program and competitive cheer championship. Board members praised the students’ character and the staff’s work in staging a Wagglestown Elementary field‑of‑flags presentation earlier in the day.
The board’s public comment periods produced no speakers; the meeting continued with regular business.
