Budget & Finance Committee recommends Village Board adopt corrected 2026 budgets and 2025 tax levy

The Village of Jackson Budget & Finance Committee on Nov. 11 recommended the Village Board adopt the villagegeneral, water and sewer budgets for 2026 and approved a recommendation to adopt the 2025 tax levy that will fund the 2026 budget.

Committee members moved to recommend adoption of Resolution 25-31 (general fund), Resolution 25-32 (water utility), Resolution 25-33 (sewer utility) and Resolution 25-34 (2025 tax levy for the 2026 budget). Each recommendation was approved by voice vote at the committee meeting; the formal votes were announced as "Aye" with "Motion carries." The committee record does not include roll-call tallies by name.

Staff asked that the official record reflect a correction to the published 2026 budget summary. Darlene, a village staff member, told the committee: "It was noticed that the published 2026 budget summary contains some incorrect revenue and expenditure totals. These corrections do not affect or change the total tax levy, so the village board should just acknowledge and approve these corrections and adopt the 2026 general fund budget as corrected to enter into the official record." The committee indicated it would have the correction memorialized in the minutes before the Village Board acts.

Why it matters: The committeerecommendation clears a procedural step toward final adoption by the Village Board; the correction staff identified does not change the levy the board will adopt. The Village Board is the final approving body for the budgets and levy, and the committee advised that the board be given the corrected budget summary when it votes.
