Council approves $28,495 estimate to repair Navasota fire station roof
Summary
The council selected Energy Coating Systems to repair and reseal the fire station metal roof in an amount of $28,495, noting the project does not address a larger brick/flashing issue that may require additional work later.

The Navasota City Council approved a $28,495 estimate from Energy Coating Systems to repair and reseal the metal roof at the fire station.
Maintenance Services Director Jay Chapel explained the exterior repairs must precede planned interior work. Chapel said Energy Coating Systems submitted the lowest bid and proposed additional work around windows and the front façade, which differentiated their proposal. Council members asked about pressure washing and whether side walls and flashing issues would be resolved; Chapel said the flashing will be sealed along the edge but that the brick attachment issue may represent a larger future project outside the scope of the current roof repair contract.
Council moved to approve the estimate and the motion carried; staff said they would arrange pressure washing and consider additional bids for façade work if necessary.
What’s next: Vendor will proceed with roof sealing and repairs identified in the estimate; staff will monitor for leaks and develop a scope for more extensive brick/flashing work if required.
