He outlined near-term construction and procurement milestones: Grant Street Phase 2 is scheduled to start construction April 1; the Elizaville and Elm Swamp Road intersection bid package is up for authorization tonight with bids expected Nov. 24; Fordyce Street punch-list items are nearly complete and final pay applications have been received; and a packet for renovation/rehab at 312 Thompson Street will be authorized for bidding with an anticipated Nov. 24 bid opening.
On Witt Road right-of-way acquisitions for a project letting next summer, Krolick said the city had reduced the acquisition list to 32 parcels (10 secured and submitted for payment, three verbal acceptances, one parcel pending legal counsel advice due to an outstanding judgment) and was working to close acquisitions by February.
Krolick also reported progress on park projects and downtown redevelopment: final invoices for Colliers Corner and the Lido Theater were received; a draft State Road 39 corridor study is expected this week and will be presented to council in early December; contracts for Abner Longley Park perimeter path are executed and preconstruction work for disc-golf pads is being scheduled.
Several projects tied to regional traffic changes were noted: the roundabout on Witt Road associated with the SR 52 interchange is nearing completion and County Road 300 North will have a three-lane extension constructed by county crews to help accommodate traffic ahead of the interchange opening. Krolick said the city will consider a related closure permit later in the meeting.
No formal vote was required for the majority of these status updates; several project authorizations and bid solicitations were moved and approved in subsequent agenda items.
