Speaker 2 said he understood the fiscal realities that led other members to vote yes, "but the reason I voted no is because I just really, in my heart, had hoped we would have been able to work with the City of Clarksburg." Speaker 2 also objected to a remark he said appeared on a podcast suggesting some teachers "are not really that special" and that their degrees came from Fairmont State in West Virginia. "I don't care if you got a degree online... It is tough to get a teacher's degree and it's even tougher to do the job," he said.
No district action or formal follow-up related to the podcast comment was recorded in the meeting. Other board members offered brief remarks and the meeting adjourned.
