The Harrison County Schools board on Monday voted to place two district properties on the auction block.
Board members approved a motion to auction the Washington Irving building with Kauf(f)man Realty & Auctions. The motion was moved and seconded and members voted in favor by voice; a roll-call tally for the Washington Irving vote was not provided at the meeting.
The board then approved auctioning Northview Elementary with Kauf(f)man Realty and Auctions. Mister Ho made the motion and Mister Tucker seconded; the board approved that motion by a 4–1 vote.
During discussion after the votes, a board member asked whether the district would attempt to sell building contents separately before finalizing a building sale. Speaker 1 said the district could catalog and try to sell contents first and noted that the timing of a buyer's closing could affect that process.
Board members did not elaborate on reserve pricing, timelines for the auctions, or buyer qualification standards at the meeting. The district did not provide a formal schedule for when either property will be listed or when an auction would close.
The meeting adjourned following brief additional board comments.
