The Farmington Hills City Council denied an application for cluster site plan 54-4-2025 after hearing council members raise neighborhood-compatibility and drainage concerns.
A council member moved to deny the revised application (dated 06/12/2025), citing the plan’s incompatibility with the surrounding neighborhood, unresolved drainage impacts and the proximity of a proposed road to a private residence. The motion invoked section 34-3.17 of the city’s zoning ordinance as the standard that had not been met.
Council debated the possibility of postponement to gather additional information, but the denial motion received support and carried by voice vote; the Mayor recorded at least one dissenting "no" while several members verbally indicated "aye." The council recessed for 10 minutes after the action.
The denial is final pending any legal appeals; staff will document the council’s reasons in the minutes and follow internal procedures for notifying the applicant.
