Greyhound Foundation honors 14 Shippensburg educators with Mary Jane Taylor mini‑grants

The Greyhound Foundation presented Mary Jane Taylor mini‑grants to 14 educators during the Shippensburg Area School District Committee of the Whole meeting, recognizing classroom projects in STEM, arts, environmental education and career/technical learning.

“We are so proud to be here tonight,” the foundation representative said, presenting certificates and awards to teachers whose proposals included a National Archery in Schools Program at the high school, a greenhouse refurbishment for early grades, an artist‑in‑residence program for intermediate school general music, and choral master classes supported through EITC STEM funding. The foundation also announced support for Sasha’s Remarkable Coffee House (a community event series) and the Nancy Grayson Library’s reading materials upgrade.

Administrators said the district will use recently approved Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) funding to help sixth‑ through twelfth‑grade STEM educators fund pond renovation, applied design and laser work, robotics competitions and student travel to national conferences for high‑achieving students. The awards are intended to expand hands‑on learning opportunities and community engagement in arts and STEM.

The foundation representative described Mary Jane Taylor as a local and national education leader and said the awards honor her legacy by increasing access to high‑quality classroom experiences. Board members and the superintendent offered congratulations and thanked the foundation for its financial and programmatic support.
