Board of Licensing unanimously approves Fairgrounds restaurant license transfer and entertainment permit

NANTUCKET — The Nantucket Board of Licensing unanimously approved the transfer of an all‑alcohol restaurant license for the Fairgrounds restaurant to Overlook Restaurant Nantucket LLC and also granted a new live entertainment license for the premises.
Licensing staff Amy Baxter summarized the transfer request as a straight transfer from Nantucket Restaurant Management Corporation, d/b/a Fairgrounds Restaurant (manager William Puder), to Overlook Restaurant Nantucket LLC, d/b/a Nantucket Fairgrounds. "This application is a straight transfer. No change in the type of license or operations," Baxter said, adding that the applicant put a lease in place to keep the current operator on site until the transfer is finalized.
Baxter told the board the applicant, Ethan Devine, is a Nantucket resident who has worked in local restaurants for more than 15 years and that no public comments had been received on the application. "We have most everything we need for this," she said, describing the applicant's familiarity with local operations.
Devine spoke briefly during board questions about potential future additions to the menu. Asked about breakfast plans, he said, "Eventually, that's the goal," and noted morning service would require additional staffing and time to implement.
The board moved and seconded motions to close the public hearing and to approve both the license transfer and the new live entertainment license. The roll‑call votes recorded unanimous 'Aye' responses from the participating members (Matt Faye; Brooke Moore; Tom Dixon; Malcolm McNabb — name appears with a variant later in the record; Don Hill), and both motions carried.
Baxter said the live entertainment permit would mirror the existing setup for the premises and that entertainment has historically ended by midnight. Licensing staff will circulate signature sheets and complete paperwork to issue the transferred license and entertainment permit.
The approvals come with the licensing office's standard condition that any significant changes to the premises or operations must return to the board for review.
