Nantucket staff report 22 fall event permit applications; new 2026 form to go live in January

NANTUCKET — Culture & Tourism staff reported to the Board of Licensing on Monday that 22 event permit applications were received for October and November, with 12 events featuring alcohol, and said the town will roll out a revised event application for 2026.
"So same as last month, things have been winding down, but we had 22 applications for October and November," said the staff member presenting the report. The presenter added that pouring permits have declined for the season.
Staff said some nonprofit organizations extended programming into November, and that the town will ask anyone planning events in 2026 to wait to apply until the new form is posted. "We are changing the application form for 2026…we ask that they refrain from doing that until the form goes live in January," the presenter said.
Licensing staff also told the board that restaurants taking part in the annual stroll may request one‑day entertainment permissions for patios, subject to fire and building code compliance. "We take those in and allow for it so long as they're within those parameters... And, if it's outdoors, it's only until 10 p.m.," Amy Baxter of licensing said.
The board did not receive public comments on the report. Staff said the change to the application form is intended to standardize submissions for next season; the office will notify applicants when the 2026 form is published.
The item concluded with no formal action beyond the informational update; staff will continue to accept and process current‑year permits under existing rules.
