The Spanish Fort Planning Commission approved a site-plan amendment for a Tesla Supercharger station proposed at 30223 Eastern Shore Court (the Cracker Barrel parking lot).
According to Casey, planning staff, the originally approved site plan had called for renovating 12 parking spaces to create eight electric-vehicle charging stalls. The applicant's revised submission reduces the renovation footprint to 10 parking spaces while maintaining eight charging stalls; one stall will be ADA-accessible. The revised layout also includes two supercharger cabinets and minor realignments to accommodate the equipment.
Casey said staff reviewed the updated materials and "found all required documentation to be accounted for and in compliance with applicable ordinances and regulations," and recommended approval. A commissioner moved for a positive recommendation to approve the site-plan amendment; the motion was seconded, roll call was taken and the commission approved the amendment.
Casey added that the proposed use does not impede the minimum parking requirement for the restaurant's existing use. Staff said it will communicate with the applicant so the project can move forward.
