Summary
Superintendent Dr. Benjamin Edmonson told the board Nov. 10 that Romulus is exploring expansion of its aviation program to the high school, has received a new flight simulator, and that the district provided more than 400 meals to families in recent distributions.
Superintendent Dr. Benjamin Edmonson delivered the district update on Nov. 10, reporting several program and community developments. He said a team of eight district staff will attend the AOPA Foundation High School Aviation STEM Symposium in Indiana as Romulus explores expanding an eighth‑grade aviation class to the high school CTE curriculum. "We're looking to expand the offerings to the high school," Edmonson said.
Edmonson also announced that a flight simulator has arrived for district use and showed enthusiasm for hands-on opportunities for students. He said the district completed its audit and that results will be presented later in the meeting cycle.
On community outreach, Edmonson said the district provided over 400 meals in a recent distribution and emphasized the need among families. He described the distribution as a community service and thanked Chartwells staff for their help. On personnel and messaging, Edmonson directly addressed a circulating rumor that he was applying to Wayne-Westland Community Schools and said the report was baseless, adding, "I'm not applying ... I love this job. I love coming every single day here."
Edmonson closed by asking for board support as the district pursues CTE expansion and follow-up on audit and budget amendments planned for December.
