Supervisors table dollar amount for ISAC amicus support in Kouser v. Shelby County

Staff said ISAC requested $500 from counties as a contribution toward filing the brief; some supervisors noted if many counties contribute $500 the total could reach tens of thousands of dollars.
A board member recommended waiting for a Wednesday informational Zoom meeting to confirm details about what the funds would cover. "They're asking for $500 from [each county], which — and if every county did that, that's all that's needed," one supervisor said. Another noted the county is already involved financially in a separate nine-county lawsuit and favored getting more information before committing additional funds.
Because the meeting packet included the item for action but questions remained, the board moved and seconded a motion to table specifying an amount until after the Wednesday briefing; the motion carried on a voice vote. Supervisors said they generally supported participation in principle and will return to the item with concrete dollar-amount options after the informational meeting.
