Supervisors rescind previous courthouse tuck-pointing resolution after higher cost estimate

Supervisors moved and passed a resolution rescinding Resolution 25-67, which had previously ordered construction, fixed a hearing date and authorized taking bids for courthouse tuck-pointing. County staff reported updated cost estimates were higher than expected and advised not to proceed to public bidding until the board sees detailed options.
"We did not go out to bid when we originally were gonna go out to bid, which means we need to basically rescind setting the public hearing until we know what the project's gonna actually be," a county staff member said. The county scheduled Doug to present multiple scope-and-cost options next week so supervisors can evaluate alternatives before scheduling a public hearing or bids.
The motion to rescind was moved and seconded and passed on roll call. During the roll call, Lukensmeyer, McVicker and Vaness were recorded voting aye.
The board's action removes the previous bid-and-hearing schedule and directs staff to present options and a cost estimate at a future meeting; no new appropriation or contract was approved at this meeting.
