Wayne County committee approves SourceBlue amendment to finish Criminal Justice Complex furnishings

The Wayne County Government Operations Committee approved Amendment 3 to a comparable-source professional services contract with SourceBlue to complete furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) for the Criminal Justice Complex (CJC).

The clerk read the agenda item requesting approval of a three‑year contract with a one‑year option to renew; assistant corporation counsel Neli Lee explained the amendment extends the contract term to accommodate FF&E items that have longer lead times than originally expected. "We anticipate that the entire fulfillment will be completed before the end of the term 12/01/2026," Lee said during the presentation.

A staff representative and Lee told commissioners some items were on back order and that additional orders are being placed to finish the project. Commissioners asked whether warranty or compatibility requirements would force the county to continue with SourceBlue for future operational procurements; staff said warranties and continuity make returning to the same vendor likely to avoid extra costs.

Officials also said the current FF&E line item has no budgeted funds for the outstanding items and that a budget amendment will be submitted when costs are finalized; staff confirmed a team is working on the adjustment. Commissioner Wilson moved to approve the amendment; Commissioner Peterson Mayberry seconded and the motion passed by voice vote.

The committee recorded no public comments on the amendment.
