Moorhead — At its Nov. 10 meeting the Moorhead City Council approved the consent agenda and a motion to adopt the Oct. 27 meeting minutes, accepted three presentations and heard one public comment before adjourning at 6:31 p.m.
The council moved and carried a voice vote to approve the consent agenda early in the meeting; later it voted to approve the Oct. 27 minutes. During public comment resident Dane DeCray urged the council to proceed with planned hires at the Moorhead Fire Department, saying the city should continue to "grow smartly, invest in our city, invest in our citizens, and invest in our community." DeCray told the council he supports the levy passed this year and asked the city to maintain public-safety staffing.
Council members provided routine reports: one councilor invited residents to a Solid Waste Advisory Committee meeting (Nov. 20) and highlighted the city and county pumpkin compost 'take back' program running through Nov. 14; another discussed statewide SNAP-processing delays that have stressed local food pantries and described upcoming hygiene and volunteer drives. The council also noted the recent ribbon cutting and operational transition for the Red River Regional Dispatch Center, with 911 call transfer expected around Dec. 3.
Mayor Shelley Carlson and City Manager Molly offered condolences for former council member Millie McLeod and for former Moorhead Police Officer Brad Skink, who died Nov. 8 after a long illness; speakers highlighted both individuals’ long service to the community.
No executive session was held and no new business was introduced; the meeting adjourned at 6:31 p.m.
