The Fond du Lac City Council opened its Nov. 12 meeting by presenting a proclamation congratulating the Salvation Army of Fond du Lac on 135 years of service and designating the city the “city of kindness” for November and December.
President Tiffany Brault read the proclamation and invited Salvation Army representatives forward for a brief response of thanks. Following the proclamation, City Manager Joe Moore and council members paid tribute to Louise Gudex for decades of service with the city and county housing authorities. Gudex said it had been “an honor and a privilege” and noted the housing authorities brought in about $7,000,000 in revenue last year across the two organizations and that a $1,400,000 project to redo plumbing and bathrooms at Rosalie Apartments remains underway.
Council presented Gudex with a ceremonial key and took photographs. No council action was required on the proclamation.
