The Arts Commission reviewed logistics for its sixth annual Women in Arts exhibit, which invites local female artists to submit family-friendly work for display at participating businesses during Women’s History Month. The chair explained that artworks are for sale and "we don't take a cut"; artists and businesses manage sales directly. The exhibit is intended as a low-cost opportunity for emerging artists to display and sell work.
Commission members reviewed a proposed timeline: entries and artist notifications, business pairings and a map update, with final installation and removal dates discussed to coordinate publicity through the City website, FunBuzz newsletter and the city e-newsletter. A staff member asked for volunteers to contact businesses and secure signed waivers (Drew Riley, the law director, will prepare waiver forms) so the city won’t be held liable for damages.
Members also discussed promotional materials and giveaways for pop-up events and family outreach (stickers, craft kits, coloring books), and agreed to gather ideas and narrow mascot/branding concepts for the next meeting. Commissioners emphasized the need to distribute timelines and to coordinate with the city’s publicity channels.
