Airport staff told the council the award — described as "a little over $26,000" — will help pay the city’s portion of a project that will remove failing asphalt at the south end of the airport apron, install a new concrete surface and improve subsurface conditions. The work is planned for next spring and staff said the federal and other grant components have been compiled to reach the project total.
Council members asked for clarification of project numbers; staff responded that several grants across different years are being combined and that the $26,000 figure represents a portion of the city’s cost-sharing support. Staff confirmed the project will use concrete rather than asphalt for the apron replacement.
Council passed Resolution 2025-40 accepting the state grant on an 8–0 vote.
