Provo board outlines RSOQ, timeline for Dixon elementary site; demolition targeted for spring 2026

District staff said they intend to coordinate architect and contractor selection early in design — a process used on prior projects — so the contractor can inform constructability from the outset. Staff indicated demolition would be managed by the selected contractor and is planned for March–April 2026; the team hopes to have construction underway and a school open by fall 2028.
On funding, staff noted current bond proceeds are available for early planning and that final construction funding decisions will depend on bid results expected after Dec. 18; staff said they prefer to use available funds before returning to voters for additional measures if required. The board discussed community engagement in design decisions and the possibility of expanding Spanish-language programming as part of programmatic planning.
Next steps: staff will prepare RSOQ documents for board review and release in December, convene a selection panel and begin community engagement during programming and schematic design phases.
