Construction managers gave the board a status update on the Tempe View renovation project and flagged near-term procurement and operational items.
Presenters Trent and Josh reported helical piers and structural steel in the basement are complete and the team has replaced rotten sewer and sump piping under the floor. "All of the beams... this work has been done," a presenter said, adding that the room is being finished and cleaned and will be ready for final finishes in the coming weeks.
The team described intermittent boiler failures: after troubleshooting and manufacturer visits, technicians installed maintenance kits and replaced auxiliary limit connectors and found a stray electrical connection affecting boiler #1. Boilers #3 and #4 were back online and providing heat; boilers #1 and #2 were offline at the time of the meeting and crews planned continued monitoring the next day. Presenters confirmed the boilers remain within a five‑year warranty.
In the cafeteria and main-floor areas, drywall and mechanical/electrical in walls and ceilings are complete; tile has been procured and is expected to arrive at the Salt Lake dock with installation to follow. Skylights are installed and the team is awaiting storefront glass for exterior finishes. Presenters said painting is about a week away and that ceiling grids and finish work will follow.
On schedule and procurement: the team said Phase 3 (auditorium and CTE wing) is next, with the multi-year project timeline extending from January 2026 to December 2029. Constructability comments have been provided to the architect; plans will be released to the public on Nov. 26 and bid day is set for Dec. 18. The elevator required for the gym is on the critical path and scheduled late in the program, with installation projected in December 2029; the elevator unit will be staged on site in advance.
The board asked about elevator ordering, tile specs, kitchen drain slopes on a suspended slab and whether finishes will require additional budget; contractors said they had coordinated with kitchen staff and will proceed with a plan that provides minimal slope to achieve drains.
