Oregon City board approves bus-bid resolution, contracts, donations and several routine items

At its Sept. 16 meeting the Oregon City Schools Board of Education approved a set of consent and new-business items, including procurement actions, contracts and donations. The board voted to authorize the Ohio Schools Council to advertise and receive cooperative bids for a 72-passenger Bluebird school bus and a wheelchair-accessible Bluebird bus.

The board also approved a request for qualifications for professional design services to develop a facilities master plan and approved required transportation contracts for the 2025–26 school year, including student-specific rides to private/parochial schools. A contract to transport a student from a group home to the Wind Center at $120 per day was approved. Trustees voted to enter an agreement with Nye Dance Productions to provide a dance instructor for Clay High School with a cost not to exceed $5,600.

On student services, the board approved an independent educational evaluation at a cost of $2,500 after staff explained parents’ right to request such evaluations by law. The board accepted multiple donations: State Farm ($600 for state testing), the American Legion Post ($250 to Clay High School), Oregon's Close Foundation ($14,075 to Clay choir risers), Oregon Schools Foundation gifts (several gifts totaling about $1,573.05 across programs) and two boxes of school supplies valued at roughly $250 from a credit union.

Roll-call votes were recorded for consent items and major motions; the bus-bid resolution and other listed contracts passed on recorded votes. The board also approved disposal of materials and confirmed prior disposals per policy. The meeting ended after routine announcements and a motion to adjourn.
