Crawford County commissioners approve consent agenda, authorize $779 dues payment

The Crawford County Commission approved a consent agenda and authorized payment of $779 in annual dues to the National Association of Counties during its September 2025 meeting, commissioners said.
Staff read four numbered motions into the record — 25-391 to approve the consent agenda, 25-392 to approve purchase of cyber insurance, 25-393 to enter an executive session to discuss tax sale litigation and 25-394 to enter an executive session to discuss the county comprehensive plan — and the board moved forward on those items.
“National Association of Counties has sent us a dues renewal. The amount is for $779 — I just need permission to pay,” said Speaker 3. Commissioner 1 moved to approve payment of the dues and the motion was seconded and carried without further discussion.
Commissioner 2 said staff is working to publish a written schedule for planning and zoning work sessions and outreach, including an upcoming work session next month. “As soon as [the schedule is] locked down we could get that out on our social media. We could put it out on our website,” Commissioner 2 said.
The commission also announced several near-term events: a 9:30 a.m. Sept. 30 work session with Charlie Bowers of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to discuss the CND landfill; a Sept. 30 meeting with Emergency Manager Quentin Parsons to discuss an AMPG grant; a 10 a.m. Oct. 3 opening of bids for a storage building; and an Oct. 30 opening of bids for boilers at the Pittsburgh Judicial Center. The county noted a KDOT local consult meeting is scheduled for Oct. 7 at the Pittsburgh Memorial Auditorium, and all three commissioners may attend.
With no further business, Commissioner 1 moved to adjourn the meeting.
Next steps: the commission will hold the announced work sessions and bid openings on the dates listed and will post finalized schedules and public notices on the county website and social media when available.
