The Troy Plant Commission voted unanimously Aug. 27 to approve a certificate of appropriateness for a new building sign at 8 North Market Street.
Planning staff told the commission the building is permitted a total of 28 square feet of signage and that the applicant proposed an 11.11-square-foot sign measuring 40 inches by 40 inches. "They're proposing to install an 11.11 square feet building sign, that measures 40 inches by 40 inches," staff said, adding the sign will be an Illumicore panel with "a half inch three-dimensional routed lettering" in black, white, red and blue. Staff said the design complies with the Design Manual's wall-sign requirements and recommended approval. Staff also noted existing window clutter on the elevation would be addressed administratively and that a tree in the northeast corner of the elevation is being removed.
A commissioner moved to approve the certificate and another seconded. During a roll call each commissioner present voted "Yes," and the motion carried. The commission did not attach additional conditions beyond staff's recommendation in the meeting record.
The commission closed the item and returned to other routine business before adjourning.
