North Providence Council OKs sale of two town parcels, contingent on clear title

The North Providence Town Council voted to approve the sale of two town-owned parcels, including Plat 5 Lots 683–694 at 1119 Douglas Avenue (requested by Meta Mill LLC for 13 rental units) and Plat 4 Lots 632–634 requested by Steven Marisi, with the condition that a title search confirm the town holds full title.
Mayor Lombardi and an appraiser said the parcels have been difficult for the town to develop and that selling them would generate revenue without creating additional municipal service obligations. Attorney Jake D’Amico and principal Joshua Odette spoke for Meta Mill LLC, confirming the proposal involves one-bedroom rental units averaging about 600–800 square feet and that the units would be rented, not sold.
Council members asked staff to verify whether the town has foreclosed tax title on certain lots or otherwise holds clear title before the town completes any conveyance. Councilman Famighetti moved to approve the sales subject to a title search showing full town ownership; Councilman Pollock seconded and the motion passed by voice vote.
The council also noted that a portion of the Marisi parcel abuts the City of Providence and may be unbuildable; Steven Marisi told the council he still wished to purchase the lot adjacent to his property. The mayor said appraisals were completed and characterized the proposed sale prices as fair. The council’s approval was procedural: final closings will follow verification of title in the town clerk’s records and any administrative steps required by staff.
