Doral unveils in-person multilingual audio translation via QR at council meetings

Mayor Christie Fraga announced Aug. 13 that the City of Doral is piloting a multilingual audio-translation service for in-person council meetings. Attendees can scan a QR code near the clerk’s desk and listen through their phones and headphones in the language of their choice.
"If you would like to hear our meeting in Spanish or in any other language…we have a QR code," the mayor said, asking residents to try the service and provide feedback to the IT and clerk’s offices. She described the program as a cost-effective way to increase participation and said the city hopes to add a remote option for viewers at home in future rollouts.
City staff will assist attendees in-person to set up the service and collect user feedback to guide improvements. The mayor framed the initiative as part of a larger effort to increase transparency and participation in a city she described as diverse with many Spanish speakers.
Next steps: Staff will collect public feedback and evaluate expanding the translation feature to remote broadcasts.
