Resident praises Covington officer for lifesaving aid after bike crash

Alice Cuvillon, a longtime Covington resident, addressed the City Council on Nov. 4 to thank a city police officer for saving her husband's life after a July bicycle crash. "He broke his leg, and he had brain bleeds," Cuvillon said, describing how the officer found her husband unconscious and arranged immediate care. "He does went way beyond the call of duty."
The officer accepted the recognition and described rendering first aid on scene. "I'm just thankful to be here and be part of a great organization," the officer said, adding that Covington Fire Department responders arrived within minutes and took control.
Council members and the mayoral presiding officer joined in expressing appreciation for the officer and other first responders. The council paused the meeting for the moment of recognition and gifts presented by Cuvillon.
No formal action was taken; the recognition occurred during the meeting's public-comment/ceremonial portion.
