The Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools board approved updates to the policies embedded in school handbooks and took final action on Policy 904 at second reading.
Superintendent Dr. Thomas told the board the packet contained electronic hyperlinks to the policies used in handbooks and that the administrative office updates those links annually. Board members voted to approve the handbook policy updates and later approved Policy 904 at second reading 6–0.
The board also considered first-and-only readings of policies 414, 418, 515, 707, 709 and 802 to update statutory references. Director Atkinson and staff clarified that the edits are technical and intended to model current state statute language rather than change substantive district practice. One board member noted that a deadline provision was deleted; staff explained the deletion reflected recent statutory language and said annual training remains required but timing is not specified in the statute.
A board member referenced model-policy guidance that indicated the Minnesota Legislature repealed Minnesota Statute section 123B.935, subdivision 2, in 2025; staff confirmed the policy edits were made to match statute. The board approved the package on a unanimous 6–0 vote.
