McLean County committee approves purchasing card for Veterans Assistance Commission after public plea

Administration said it will coordinate with the treasurer's office and Commerce Bank to issue the VAC card, which staff expected to arrive in a few days. County Treasurer McNeil offered immediate use of a departmental card assigned to her office as an interim solution so VAC staff could make necessary purchases right away.
The committee did not attach additional conditions to the card in the public discussion, but Vogler and Rodriguez described an internal VAC threshold that allows the director to authorize purchases under $5,000. Administration and the treasurer's office outlined distribution steps (bank processing and delivery to the county auditor's office) and committed to quick issuance.
The committee carried the item as a formal motion; no member recorded opposition in the public minutes. The committee then moved on to other agenda items.
