Finance committee approves digital radio replacement and a 90‑day transit facility study

The Kenosha Finance Committee on Nov. 3 approved two transit items: a digital radio and antenna system replacement and a transit facility assessment to study possible relocation of the downtown transfer center.
The transit director described the radio replacement as an update to aging equipment that will improve communications range. “This is a digital radio to replace the commander…This will give us a better communication range,” the director said. The committee approved the radio purchase following the transit commission’s 6–0 recommendation.
Separately, the committee approved a study and potential design contract to evaluate moving the transfer center to a site south of the old Chrysler building and to identify design considerations; staff said they have included a small capital allocation in a future CIP if the study recommends relocation. The transit director said he expects the study to be completed within roughly 90 days.
Both items were approved by committee vote.
