At the Nov. 4 work session the county manager reviewed a lengthy consent agenda and several administrative requests.
Notable procurement items included requests from the Sheriff’s Office to purchase suppressors ($55,587.79 total), an iRecord digital interview system ($59,318) and low‑voltage wiring for a Real Time Intelligence Center (paid from 2024 SPLOST). IT requested renewals for a public safety VPN and network maintenance contracts. Fire & Emergency Services sought multi‑year uniform and hose‑testing contracts, and Public Works presented a five‑year right‑of‑way mowing services agreement.
Recreation and Parks requested park use agreements with 112 Events LLC to host the holiday lights events at Cherokee Veterans Park and Hopgood Park. Staff also proposed a partnership agreement with Friends of Garland Mountain Trails for volunteer trail maintenance, and the county is considering hosting the 2026–27 Georgia Police & Fire Games, which could draw 600–1,200 participants.
Separately, staff recommended participating in a large multidistrict pharmaceutical judgment recovery process; staff said there are no upfront costs and potential recoveries would go to the general fund. The claims process requires a participation agreement and a later attorney engagement agreement; staff noted a Nov. 15 deadline to participate. Commissioners asked for more details about likely recoveries and which employees would be counted for plan recovery calculations.
