The Village Board approved an ordinance amendment to Article 6 (wellhead protection) that directs staff to maintain a map of wellhead protection areas rather than updating ordinance text each time a new well is added. Lauren Freeman explained the change as an administrative simplification: the map will be maintained by the clerk and updated as wells are installed.
During the hearing, a resident asked about an ongoing groundwater contamination issue; staff answered that the village has secured EPA(?)/DNR grant funding and is working with a contractor to address the contamination and will resume sampling through the utilities department.
The board approved the ordinance by voice vote and directed staff to publish the updated map and ordinance.
