Committee hears report on middle-school roof failures; inspector recommended full replacement

Inspectors found that the previous installation had put the roofing membrane over e-bolts embedded in the masonry, and the building inspector recommended removing the current roofing layers and starting over to ensure a long-term repair. Committee members discussed contractor accountability; Speaker 4 noted the district has not paid PACON (the general contractor) and suggested withholding payment unless corrective work is completed to the district's satisfaction.
The district will hold a scope meeting in the coming weeks (the committee discussed a meeting around the twentieth) with on-site supervision from Mike Moses, identified in the discussion as the district's construction representative, and a new roofer to verify proper repairs. The committee asked staff to follow up with attorneys and insurance contacts as needed and agreed to receive updates at the next meeting or the scheduled scope meeting.
