The Glenn Heights City Council set a proposed ad valorem tax rate of 0.562795 for fiscal year 2025–26 and announced a public hearing and anticipated budget-adoption date.
Finance Director Sherry Roberts presented certified rolls from Ellis and Dallas counties that combined to about $1.9 billion in taxable value and said the recalculated voter-approval (voter-approval) rate is 0.562795. Roberts told council the change in values means the average homeowner in Glenn Heights would see roughly an $80 increase in annual city taxes under current rates. "This is approximately a 5.8% increase over the certified values that was presented to you last year," Roberts said, summarizing certified-roll changes.
Council voted unanimously to set the proposed ad valorem tax rate at 0.562795 and staff announced a public hearing and proposed budget-adoption special meeting on Sept. 9. The budget and any amendments will be considered at that meeting and in accordance with required public-notice rules.
