Hunter described FDOT’s priorities—preserving the existing system, maintaining the work program, funding next project phases and adding new projects—and reviewed newly added projects, resurfacing lists, bicycle/pedestrian investments (sidewalk gaps and a 60th Street improvement program), resiliency work on the Howard Franklin Bridge Causeway and mast‑arm signal replacements. He said about $185 million is for resurfacing and roughly $152 million across transit and modal partner investments in the five‑year window.
Board members raised detailed questions about turning movement counts at roundabouts and merge areas and requested FDOT return with localized counts and potential signage or lane adjustments. Council members praised some completed projects and asked FDOT to coordinate on interim fixes where redevelopment allows lane or signal changes.
Forward Pinellas approved a letter of comments on the draft tentative work program for submission to FDOT and agreed to incorporate additional board comments by the soft deadline; staff will share the FDOT PowerPoint with members.
