Votes at a glance: Platte County Commission approves two park-board appointments, KCATA nominees, pool repair contract and withdrawal notice for mental-health p

Platte County commissioners recorded a series of unanimous (3-0) votes during their Sept. 8 meeting. Key outcomes:

- Agenda and consent calendar: The commission approved the meeting agenda and the consent calendar by voice vote (each recorded as 3-0).

- Park-board appointments (Resolution 2025-061 and 2025-062): Thomas Baker and Brian O'Toole were appointed to the Platte County Park Board with terms through Jan. 19, 2026. Motions to confirm the appointments passed 3-0.

- KCATA nominations (Order CO125): The commission approved sending three nominees — Nancy Gordon, Laura Waldron and Nelson Henning — to the Kansas City mayor for consideration to fill Platte County's seat on the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority board. Motion carried 3-0.

- Mental-health withdrawal (Order CO128): The commission approved sending two-year notices to withdraw from the Clay–Platte–Ray Mental Health Board so Platte County can form its own Platte County Mental Health Board. The chair said the new board would oversee roughly $3,000,000 in annual Platte County property-tax revenue; motion passed 3-0.

- Parks contract and bid award (CO126 and CO127): The commission awarded the bulkhead-repair bid to Aquatic Development Group Inc. and approved a contract of $105,800 for repairs at the Platte County Community Center North competitive pool. Funding was identified from community-center membership fee revenues. Both motions carried 3-0.

- Announcements and adjournment: Public Works Director Bob Heim announced a countywide residential-waste cleanup Sept. 19–20, 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; the commission adjourned at 10:14 a.m.
