Court approves hiring of nurse practitioner, nurse and wellness coordinator to expand West Side health services

Marybeth from Health Services asked the court on Oct. 14 to authorize the county to proceed with hiring two 2026 budgeted positions — a nurse practitioner and a nurse — to support an expanded West Side clinic and increased provider coverage at the jail. She also requested approval for a part‑time wellness coordinator to transition the county’s employee wellness program to an electronic platform in partnership with TAC.
Marybeth said a soft opening for the West Side office is planned for next Wednesday and that staffing and electronic medical‑record integration remain ongoing tasks. She described a goal of five‑day weekly clinic coverage on the West Side by early 2026 and said the county will need to retrofit one room for patient care. The wellness coordinator role would help register and onboard employees for a WebMD‑based wellness program and coordinate utilization with HR.
Commissioners moved and approved allowing Marybeth to start the hiring/onboarding process for the two budgeted positions and the part‑time coordinator; staff noted the positions were already included in the 2026 budget. Commissioners also discussed an upcoming open house to introduce the West Side facility to the community.
